Madden 25 adds commentary teams for the first time in eight years

With a reveal trailer set to arrive early next week, EA Sports has revealed tons of details about this year's Madden 25 including the debut of some new commentary teams. For years, fans have complained about how repetetive the commentary in Madden could become. The mainstay pairing of the last decade isn't leaving, but things are due for a major rework with Madden 25 adding four new voices to the mix.

Madden 25 adds two new commentary teams

Generally, commentary in Madden is something fans eventually start tuning out or actively mute via the sound settings. While the commentary work by longtime pairing Brandon Gaudin and Charles Davis was more than sufficient, every year there seems to be a threshhold where commentary starts sounding so repetitive that it no longer matters.

With the release of Madden 25, they're making some big changes with the addition of two entirely new pairings. Mike Tirico and former NFL tight end Greg Olsen will be one team, and the other will feature Kate Scott and former NFL quarterback Brock Huard. There are over 42,000 new recordings set for Madden 25 at launch, and they're planning multiple in-season updates. For those who might not immediately recognize those names, rest assured there's a very real pedigree for each.

Mike Tirico

First up, we have current NBC Sunday Night Football play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico, who filled that same role in the past for ESPN Monday Night Football from 2006 to 2015. While football has remained his focus, Tirico has become a jack of all trades for NBC Sports with hosting and play-by-play for everything from the Olympics to the Stanley Cup.

Greg Olsen

Most known for his time as Cam Newton's favorite target when he played for the Carolina Panthers from 2011 to 2019, Greg Olsen transitioned out of the NFL and directly into the broadcast booth. He's been a consistent presence with Fox Sports, became the lead color commentator for NFL on Fox, and even named top Event Analyst at this year's Sports Emmy Awards.

Kate Scott

The other team will include Kate Scott, who has been a trailblazer for female representation in sports broadcasting for years. After becoming the first woman to call an NFL game on the radio back in 2016, she's gone on to call the NHL, NBA, several college sports, Olympic basketball, Copa América and Gold Cup soccer matches, and lately has been the full-time play-by-play announcer for the Philadelphia 76ers. Scott revealed in an interview that she's been working on Madden 25 commentary since 2022.

Brock Huard

Lastly, joining Kate Scott will be former quarterback Brock Huard. After setting several school records with the Washington Huskies, a brief injury-shortened NFL career with the Seahawks and Colts put Huard on the path to broadcasting. Over the last few decades, he's become an experienced voice for Fox Sports to call on for color commentary, play-by-play, and sideline reporting.
