Palians have been heavily investing in their Housing Plot by decorating their homes and sprucing up their outdoor spaces. The previous patch updates have reflected this, with the introduction of the Flowers and Trees system, more Furniture sets and Plushs, and now more placeable decor options.

Palia's v0.180 patch update welcomed Books that can be utilized as placeable decor, with a selected range now available in-game. Take a page out of a decorating book and start refreshing your spaces, as we've explained how to get and use these placeable books as decor in Palia.

How To Get The Placeable Books In Palia?

Palia's v0.180 patch update, Crafted Comforts, has added plenty of unique content for the Housing system, including a new home, the Grand Harvest House, and Building Blocks. To enhance these features more, developer Singularity 6 has added another placeable decor option, Books, to inspire budding designers when decorating spaces.

According to the official patch notes, Palians can collect these books and place them on furniture in their homes and the Housing Plot. They can also purchase these new placeable books as decor options from a new cash register inside the Kilima Village Library.

It's unclear if the developer will add more books for Palians to obtain from the Kilima Village Library, but some selections are available now. Let's look at all the placeable books and the cost they can buy from the library in Palia:

  • Adventure Novel: 275 Gold
  • Architectural Treatise:
  • Astronomer's Tome: 275 Gold
  • Bird-Spotting Manual: 275 Gold
  • Caleri's Choice Book: 275 Gold
  • Embossed Tome: 280 Gold
  • Handmade Guide: 280 Gold
  • Majiri Dictionary: 275 Gold
  • Navigator's Notebook: 275 Gold
  • Poetic Anthology: 280 Gold
  • Romance Novel: 275 Gold

It's worth pointing out that there's a unique attribute for Caleri's Choice Book that they can obtain from the library. The patch notes state that the boom is embued with "magical" properties, and its "appearance changes whenever you place it," so give it a try!

How To Use The Placeable Books In Palia?

Once Palians have acquired plenty of books from the Kilima Village Library, they can be used as placeable decor throughout their homes. Based on our playtesting, the books cannot be placed on the flat side of the case but can be placed upright on multiple surfaces.

Speaking of surfaces, we've mentioned that these books can be used to decorate their spaces throughout their homes and on their Housing Plot when placed on furniture pieces. As per our testing once again, the rarity of furniture won't prevent Palians from placing these books as we've successfully put them on a Makeshift Large Shelf, which the Makeshift set is of the Common/Uncommon rarity.

In addition to furniture rarity not hindering the placement of the books, they can be placed almost anywhere and on most surfaces. We've put the books on bookshelves, side tables as any table should suffice, any shelving, Treasure Chests and cabinets for which we placed the Caleri's Choice Book inside the Homestead Display Case.

Unfortunately, they can't interact with these books when placed or from the Inventory, but the closest we got was hovering over the book from the Inventory, which briefly describes each book. We're unsure if the books can be used for Gifting for which we'll update this page with more information.

Note that these placeable book decor options will contribute to the overall decor limit. In terms of limits, Palians can obtain as many books as they like as their cost won't increase with every purchase, but they should keep in mind their decor limit when making these purchases.
