The latest Nintendo Direct revealed four new additions coming to the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack library, and two of them are getting important online upgrades. While the forever anticipated announcement of original Pokemon games joining the selection didn't happen this time, there are four exciting classics which should provide something for every player. Starting today, you can experience two beloved Game Boy Advance remakes and two very violent Nintendo 64 trailblazers.

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack adds four more classics today

As seen above, Metroid: Zero Mission and The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Four Swords enter the GBA library while Perfect Dark and Turok: Dinosaur Hunter are now available in the N64 vault. Access to these will require an active subscription to more than just Nintendo Switch Online. Players on a monthly plan or the annual basic plan will need to upgrade to the $49.99 annual individual Expansion Pack plan or the extra pricey family version which allows up to eight accounts.

Originally released on Game Boy Advance in late 2002, this included both a modified port of A Link to the Past and a new multiplayer-only game called Four Swords. Versions of it had previously been released on the DSiWare service and Nintendo 3DS eShop, but this is the first time Nintendo Switch is getting this classic. Perhaps most exciting is that Four Swords will now have the fully online multiplayer benefits of the Switch, so you can play with friends more easily than ever before.

Metroid: Zero Mission (GBA)

Released back in early 2004, Metroid: Zero Mission was a full remake of the original 1986 version that spawned this entire franchise. On top of updated visuals and gameplay, they added several ares, mini-bosses, and even rewrote some of the story to dive into Samus Aran's past. Just as Metroid Prime 4 gets a trailer more than a decade in the making, this remastered original comes to Nintendo Switch.

Turok: Dinosaur Hunter (N64)

The first of two Rated M for Mature N64 trailblazers arriving today is Turok: Dinosaur Hunter. It was the first third-party game developed for Nintendo 64, and Acclaim managed to put together one of the seminal first-person shooters of that era when it released in early 1997. Remastered verions had previously been released on Windows, Xbox, Switch, and PS4, but now the untouched original joins the Expansion Pack lineup.

Lastly, we have the spiritual successor to legendary first-person shooter GoldenEye 007. Released on N64 in mid-2000, Perfect Dark was inspired by everything from X-Files to Blade Runner and continued to evolve the features innovated in GoldenEye 007. A remastered version was released in 2010 for Xbox 360 and later included in the Rare Replay collection on Xbox One. Now, the original Perfect Dark hits Nintendo Switch with the addition of online multiplayer to experience the competetive standard it set more than two decades ago.
